WEB Orientation & Leadership Program

You might think WEB and consider spider-webs as I first did when offered the opportunity to become trained as a WEB Coordinator. Hmmm, no thanks, I don’t like spiders! However, WEB actually stands for Where Everybody Belongs and it is a Middle School Transition program focused on peer mentoring, orientation, and academic support. This week, Mrs. Davis and I trained 70 8th grade students to lead 230 incoming 6th grade students at orientation. Each 8th grade WEB leader is appointed a small group of 6th graders to mentor throughout the year.  We have wonderful students at East Middle School! It was a pleasure seeing them all smile, laugh and fun on a day at school together before our official 1st day of school on Thursday.
